Is Neevo AI Legit? I Made $110, but the Work Is Sparse

Is Neevo AI legit? Yes. I made $110 on Neevo by listening to AI voice clips and rating how natural they sounded. Both payments came to my PayPal automatically, plus two surprise bonuses.

The problem was the work. I got two projects in three months, and almost nothing after that. Here’s how Neevo works, what I earned, and why I don’t check it daily like my other platforms.

What Is Neevo AI?

Neevo is a platform where you get paid to help train AI, mostly with voice and language tasks. It’s run by DefinedCrowd, a Seattle company now called Defined.ai. My emails came from both DefinedCrowd and Neevo.

How I Found Neevo (No Waitlist)

I found Neevo on r/beermoney and signed up on November 5, 2021:

There was no waitlist then, and there still isn’t one.

How to Join: PayPal and Language Tests

After you confirm your email, there are two setup steps: validate your PayPal account and take the language tests.

I took the US English test and passed. You won’t get projects without passing, so take the tests seriously.

My First Project: Rating AI Voices

On December 14, 2021, I got my first project: American/Canadian English Text-To-Speech Evaluation. It paid $1.00 per valid task, up to $50:

Each task was simple. You listen to an AI voice clip once or twice, then write a line or two on how natural it sounds. One task took me about 2.5 minutes at most.

On December 23, I got a second project, the same job for another $50:

I did all my work on my laptop.

How Much I Made

Here’s all of it:

DatePaymentAmount
December 22, 2021First project$50
January 14, 2022Second project$50
January 31, 2022Bonus, first batch$5
January 31, 2022Bonus, second batch$5
Total$110

How Much Neevo Pays Per Hour

At about 2.5 minutes per task, 100 tasks took me about 4 hours. That’s $100 for 4 hours of work, or about $24 an hour, and more with the bonuses.

For comparison, I average about $11 an hour on CloudResearch Connect. So Neevo pays well when it has work. It just rarely has any.

How You Get Paid

Neevo pays through PayPal. My first $50 arrived on December 22, 2021, 8 days after the project email:

Neevo sent me $50 on PayPal on December 22, 2021

The second $50 arrived on January 14, 2022:

Neevo sent me $50 on PayPal on January 14, 2022

Then, out of the blue, Neevo sent me a $5 bonus for each batch:

Neevo $5 bonus for my first batch of tasks
Neevo $5 bonus for my second batch of tasks

The Downside: The Work Is Sparse

This is the big one. After my two projects, the work basically stopped. I saw another job once, but that was it.

On Prolific, CloudResearch Connect, Crowdtap and UserCrowd, there’s something to do almost every day. On Neevo, I could check every day and find nothing.

The Platform Makes Mistakes

On February 1, 2022, Neevo emailed me to say a job had been sent to me by mistake. It was meant for German native speakers:

Neevo email saying a German job was sent to me by mistake

It’s not a big deal, but with so little work, getting a job that wasn’t meant for me didn’t help.

Why I Deleted My Account

I got tired of checking for work that wasn’t there, so on February 18, 2022, I deleted my account:

Neevo account deletion email from February 18, 2022

I figured I’d rejoin later if Neevo got bigger clients. That was my choice, and it’s not what I’d recommend. If you join, keep your account open, but don’t check it every day. Just do the work when a project email shows up. A lot of time has passed since 2022, so the work may be steadier now.

One note from Neevo’s terms: if you delete your account, any unused balance is lost, so cash out first.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Legit, paid me $110 to PayPal
  • About $24 an hour when there’s work
  • Automatic PayPal payments
  • Surprise bonuses
  • Easy tasks: listen and give quick feedback
  • No waitlist

Cons:

  • Very little work
  • You have to pass language tests first
  • Jobs can be sent to you by mistake

Is Neevo AI Legit? My Verdict

Yes, Neevo AI is legit. I made $110, both payments came to my PayPal automatically, and I even got two bonuses I didn’t expect. When there’s work, it pays about $24 an hour.

But don’t expect steady work. Sign up, pass the language test, keep your account open, and treat any project email as a bonus. If you want to try it, you can sign up for Neevo here.
