Neevo AI Tax Calculator

Do you have to pay taxes on Neevo AI? It depends on how much you make and what other income you have. Neevo pays you as an independent contractor and doesn’t take out any taxes. This Neevo AI tax calculator estimates how much tax you’ll owe on your Neevo earnings in 2026 and how much to set aside from each PayPal payment.

I made $110 on Neevo rating AI voices: two $50 projects and two $5 bonuses. Here’s my full Neevo AI review.

How your taxable income is worked out

    How this is calculated
    • Gig profit = Neevo + other gig income − gig expenses. Neevo pays you as an independent contractor, so this is self-employment income, reported on Schedule C.
    • Self-employment tax is 15.3% (12.4% Social Security and 2.9% Medicare) on 92.35% of your gig profit. You only owe it when that comes to $400 or more, which means about $433 of profit. Social Security tax stops at $184,500 of combined W-2 pay and gig earnings. Half of it is deductible.
    • Federal income tax uses the 2026 brackets and standard deduction ($16,100 single, $32,200 married filing jointly, $24,150 head of household). It also includes the qualified business income deduction: 20% of your gig profit after the self-employment tax deduction, and at least $400 when that’s $1,000 or more.
    • Child tax credit is $2,200 per child under 17. Up to $1,700 per child can come back as a refund, based on 15% of your earned income over $2,500.
    • State income tax uses 2026 rates, brackets, standard deductions and exemptions from the Tax Foundation, updated for the 2026 cuts in Arkansas, Georgia, South Carolina, Utah and West Virginia. A few states (like California) hadn’t published 2026 bracket amounts, so their 2025 amounts are used. Head of household uses single brackets.
    • Tax on your Neevo earnings = your total tax minus what your total tax would be without Neevo. That’s the extra tax Neevo adds.
    • 1099-K: Neevo is run by Defined.ai, a US company, but it pays you through PayPal and says PayPal handles the tax forms. So don’t expect a 1099-NEC from Neevo. PayPal sends a Form 1099-K when you get more than $20,000 in more than 200 payments in a year (over $600 in Maryland, Massachusetts, Vermont and Virginia, and over $1,000 in 4 or more payments in Illinois). It counts all business payments to your PayPal, not just Neevo. Either way, you report all your Neevo income.
    • Before deductions leaves out the standard deduction, the qualified business income deduction, and state deductions and exemptions, so you can see how much they save you.

Not included: the earned income tax credit, city and county income taxes (like New York City or Maryland counties), state low-income credits, itemized deductions, and retirement or health insurance deductions. Your real tax can be lower.

How to Use the Neevo AI Tax Calculator

    1. Enter your Neevo earnings for the year. Add up the Neevo payments in your PayPal activity, bonuses included. The $110 already filled in is what I made on Neevo.
    2. Add your other income. Enter other gig income (like Handshake AI or Outlier), gig expenses and your W-2 pay. Enter 0 for anything you don’t have.
    3. Pick your filing status, children under 17 and state.
    4. Read your results. The big number is the extra tax Neevo adds to your bill. Under it, you’ll see whether you owe self-employment tax, whether you need to file, and whether PayPal will send you a 1099-K.

Do You Have to Pay Taxes on Neevo?

Neevo earnings are self-employment income, so you report them on Schedule C. They can bring two taxes:

    • Self-employment tax: 15.3% on 92.35% of your gig profit, once that comes to $400 or more. That works out to about $433 of profit.
    • Income tax: only on income above your standard deduction. For 2026, the standard deduction is $16,100 for single filers, $32,200 for married couples filing jointly and $24,150 for heads of household.

    Here’s what that means:

    • Neevo is your only income and you made under about $433: you owe nothing.
    • You also have a W-2 job: your Neevo earnings get income tax even under $433. $110 from Neevo plus a $40,000 W-2 job in California comes to about $15.
    • You also do other AI training work: the $433 line counts all your gig profit together. With $8,000 from Handshake AI, my $110 from Neevo would add about $16 in self-employment tax.

If you also work on Handshake AI, try my Handshake AI tax calculator for those earnings.

    Does Neevo Send a 1099?

Don’t expect a 1099-NEC from Neevo. It’s run by Defined.ai, a US company, but it pays you through PayPal, and Neevo says PayPal handles the tax forms.

So your payments count toward PayPal’s Form 1099-K. PayPal only sends one when you get more than $20,000 in more than 200 payments in a year. The exceptions are Maryland, Massachusetts, Vermont and Virginia, where it’s over $600, and Illinois, where it’s over $1,000 in 4 or more payments. A 1099-K shows gross amounts from all business payments to your PayPal, not just Neevo.

No form doesn’t mean no tax. You report all your Neevo earnings, with or without a 1099-K.

How Much Should You Set Aside From Neevo?

    • Neevo is your only income and you’ll stay under about $433: nothing.
    • Neevo is your only income and you’ll go over $433: about 15%.
    • You also have a W-2 job: about 15% to 30%.

The calculator works out your own percentage. Set it aside each time a Neevo payment lands in your PayPal.

Do You Pay State Tax on Neevo?

In most states, yes, if you have enough total income to owe state tax. Nine states have no income tax on wages: Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming. The calculator uses the Tax Foundation’s 2026 state income tax table.

    Neevo AI Tax Calculator FAQ

Do I have to pay taxes on Neevo if I made less than $400?

If Neevo is your only income and your gig profit is under about $433, no. With a job, you’ll still pay regular income tax on it. With other gig work, the $433 line counts all your gig profit together.

    Does Neevo take out taxes?

No. Neevo says it doesn’t withhold any taxes, since you’re an independent contractor.

    Will I get a 1099 from Neevo?

Don’t expect a 1099-NEC. Neevo pays through PayPal, and PayPal handles the tax forms. PayPal only sends a 1099-K above $20,000 and 200 payments a year, or less in a few states.

    Is Neevo income self-employment income?

Yes. Neevo treats you as an independent contractor, so your earnings go on Schedule C.

Is it safe to enter my income?

Yes. Everything is calculated in your browser. Nothing you type is saved or sent anywhere.
