Do you have to pay taxes on Qmee? Qmee pays you cash for surveys, and that counts as income. Whether you owe anything depends on your other income. This Qmee tax calculator estimates whether you owe tax on your Qmee rewards in 2026 and how much they add to your tax bill.
I cashed out $298.16 from Qmee in 32 PayPal payouts. Here’s how much you can make on Qmee, month by month.

How your taxable income is worked out
How this is calculated
- Qmee rewards are cash rewards for surveys and games, not pay for running a business. So they’re “other income” on Schedule 1, line 8z: added to your income, with no self-employment tax. Gift card cash-outs count at face value. Cashback you earn by buying something isn’t counted, since it’s a discount on your purchase, not income.
- Other gig income = other gig income − gig expenses. That’s self-employment income, reported on Schedule C.
- Self-employment tax only applies to your other gig income: 15.3% (12.4% Social Security and 2.9% Medicare) on 92.35% of your gig profit. You only owe it when that comes to $400 or more, which means about $433 of profit. Social Security tax stops at $184,500 of combined W-2 pay and gig earnings. Half of it is deductible.
- Federal income tax uses the 2026 brackets and standard deduction ($16,100 single, $32,200 married filing jointly, $24,150 head of household). Qmee rewards don’t get the qualified business income deduction, since they aren’t business income. Other gig income does: 20% of your gig profit after the self-employment tax deduction.
- Child tax credit is $2,200 per child under 17. Up to $1,700 per child can come back as a refund, based on 15% of your earned income over $2,500.
- State income tax uses 2026 rates, brackets, standard deductions and exemptions from the Tax Foundation, updated for the 2026 cuts in Arkansas, Georgia, South Carolina, Utah and West Virginia. A few states (like California) hadn’t published 2026 bracket amounts, so their 2025 amounts are used. Head of household uses single brackets.
- Tax on your Qmee rewards = your total tax minus what your total tax would be without them. That’s the extra tax Qmee adds.
- 1099-K: Qmee is run by Kantar UK Ltd in London, so don’t expect a 1099 from it. Cash-outs to PayPal or Venmo can count toward a Form 1099-K, which PayPal and Venmo send when you get more than $20,000 in more than 200 payments in a year (over $600 in Maryland, Massachusetts, Vermont and Virginia, and over $1,000 in 4 or more payments in Illinois). It counts all business payments to your account, not just Qmee. Either way, you report all your Qmee rewards.
- Before deductions leaves out the standard deduction, the qualified business income deduction, and state deductions and exemptions, so you can see how much they save you.
Not included: the earned income tax credit, city and county income taxes (like New York City or Maryland counties), state low-income credits, itemized deductions, and retirement or health insurance deductions. Your real tax can be lower. If someone can claim you as a dependent (like a parent), your standard deduction is smaller.
How to Use the Qmee Tax Calculator
- Enter your Qmee rewards for the year. Add up your cash-outs, plus any balance you haven’t cashed out yet. Every PayPal cash-out sends you an email, so that’s the easiest way to add them up. The $298 already filled in is what I cashed out from Qmee in total.
- Leave out Cashback from shopping. Cash back you earn by buying something is a discount on your purchase, not income. Survey and game rewards count.
- Add your other income. Enter other gig income, gig expenses and your W-2 pay. Enter 0 for anything you don’t have.
- Pick your filing status, children under 17 and state.
- Read your results. The big number is the extra tax Qmee adds to your bill. Under it, you’ll see whether you need to file and whether you’ll get a 1099-K.
Do You Have to Pay Taxes on Qmee?
Qmee rewards are taxable, but you only owe tax on them when your total income is high enough.
Qmee pays you rewards for surveys, not for running a business, so the calculator treats them as “other income” on Schedule 1, line 8z. That means:
- No self-employment tax. You only pay regular income tax.
- Income tax only above your standard deduction. For 2026, the standard deduction is $16,100 for single filers, $32,200 for married couples filing jointly and $24,150 for heads of household.
Here’s what that means:
- Qmee is your only income: you owe nothing. Even my best month, $170.54, is nowhere near $16,100.
- You also have a W-2 job: your rewards are taxed at your tax rate. $298 from Qmee plus a $40,000 W-2 job in California comes to about $48 in federal and California income tax
If you run survey sites like a business, you’d report them on Schedule C instead, with self-employment tax.
AI training sites like Neevo are different. They pay you as an independent contractor, so that’s self-employment income, with its own 15.3% tax. For that, use my Neevo AI tax calculator.
Does Qmee Send a 1099?
Don’t expect one. According to its terms, Qmee is run by Kantar UK Ltd in London, so it’s a UK company.
Your cash-outs to PayPal or Venmo can count toward a Form 1099-K. PayPal and Venmo only send one when you get more than $20,000 in more than 200 payments in a year. The exceptions are Maryland, Massachusetts, Vermont and Virginia, where it’s over $600, and Illinois, where it’s over $1,000 in 4 or more payments. My 32 payouts came to $298, nowhere near that.
No form doesn’t mean no tax. Your Qmee rewards are income with or without a 1099-K.
How Much Should You Set Aside From Qmee?
- Qmee is your only income: nothing.
- You also have a W-2 job: about 10% to 30% of your rewards, depending on your tax bracket and state. In my California example, it’s 17%.
The calculator works out your own percentage. Qmee has no minimum cash-out, so you can set it aside each time you cash out.
Do You Pay State Tax on Qmee?
In most states, yes, if you have enough total income to owe state tax. Nine states have no income tax on wages: Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming. The calculator uses the Tax Foundation’s 2026 state income tax table.
Qmee Tax Calculator FAQ
Are Qmee rewards taxable?
Yes. Survey and game rewards count as income, including gift card cash-outs at face value. You only owe tax on them if your total income is above the standard deduction.
Is Qmee Cashback taxable?
Cash back you earn by buying something is generally treated as a discount on your purchase, not income. The calculator leaves it out.
Will I get a 1099 from Qmee?
Don’t expect one. Qmee is run by a UK company. Your PayPal or Venmo cash-outs can count toward a 1099-K, but PayPal and Venmo only send one above $20,000 and 200 payments a year, or less in a few states.
Do you pay self-employment tax on Qmee?
Usually not. Qmee rewards are other income, so they only get regular income tax. If you run survey sites like a business, they’d go on Schedule C instead, with self-employment tax.
Is it safe to enter my income?
Yes. Everything is calculated in your browser. Nothing you type is saved or sent anywhere.
